As one of the longest running clubs in the West Midlands founded in 1968 by the late Sensei Cyril Cummins 8th Dan, we have a long history of teaching traditional Shotokan karate by providing a friendly and fun environment for people of all ages.
At Birmingham and Weoley Castle Shotokan Karate we believe that karate is for everyone whatever your age or ability and we have students with physical disabilities and special educational needs amongst our students.
The club is run by Chief Instructor Sensei Susan Hession 5th Dan with the support of Senior Instructor Richard Amuzu 5th Dan both of whom were students of Sensei Cummins and have over 60 years of karate training between them. The club also has a number of experienced assistant instructors who help us provide the best possible tuition for students of all ages.

NAKMAS provides insurance for every student and instructor. All instructors and assistant instructors are enhanced DBS checked before being issued with an instructors licence.
